business valuations
At gbac, our holistic approach to the services we provide doesn’t end at business valuations. We recognise that every valuation is different and our aim is to provide a value that is as objective as possible. We have a qualified team who can offer their expert judgement based on sound methods and reasonable assumptions, with comparable market data which will help you to explore and achieve your options for exit.
Business valuations are essential to many business transactions and are carried out in a variety of contexts, for many differing reasons. Whether this is to seek valuation for assurance or to understand the business’ assets, the priorities and goals of a business can change over the years and a valuation can be essential to the Directors in making key decisions.
Business valuations can be broken down in to two areas: internal and external valuations.
External valuations
External valuations are based solely on information that is externally available and may typically be needed in the following circumstances:
- To aid an investment decision, whether this is to purchase all or part equity of a business
- Comparative analysis
Internal valuations
Internal valuations are performed around data from the organisation and its management and would be needed for the following instances:
- Tax / accounting valuation
- Divorce / probate valuation
- Calculation of an internal reward system
- Sale of all or part of the equity of your business
There are various different methods to calculate the valuation of a business, the key is to choose the one that is best placed to fit the context of the valuation exercise and our gbac team are well placed to help you make that decision.
Our team are certified in the ACCA and the Conseil SuperiƩur Ordre Des Experts-Comptables (CSOEC), Certificate in Business Valuations; a high-quality specialist qualification for qualified accountants, finance business professionals and employers globally.
We also have access to a market leading database that provides information on global and national transactions and enables us to get up to date data on transaction values, multiples, and comparative analysis.
